Safe Routes to School California logos
Our Safe Routes to School California logo is available for use by any jurisdiction or organization working on Safe Routes to School projects in their community. These downloadable logos can be customized with your organization’s name. A few different options are provided in zip files below. Please review the Graphics Standards document included in the zip folder to understand the correct usage of the logo, including instructions for how to add your organization’s name.
School zone collision maps
TARC has partnered with UC Berkeley’s SafeTREC to develop interactive geospatial PDF planning maps for each city and county in California. Maps provide a visual depiction of schools, including school closures and school district boundaries, street-level pedestrian and bicycle crashes, school free and reduced price meal eligibility, and past state and federal Safe Routes to School grant awards. The geospatial PDF feature allows schools or collisions in the map to be identified and the relevant data table displayed within the PDF.

Data collection
TARC has assembled several resources to assist with program implementation, evaluation, and project priortization. Visit the Gather Data section of our website for links to traffic collision, student physical fitness, demographic, injury, and other data resources.
Transportation and environmental impacts
Save A Gallon provides a fun, interactive way to track non-recreational transportation miles including cycling, carpooling, taking the bus or train and walking. The website log can be paired with scanning technology to automatically record miles traveled to a set destination, a feature that is being pilot-tested at local schools.
The Zero Footprint Youth Calculator was developed by (OF)2: Our Footprints, Our Future!, an international initiative that encourages youth to use online tools to measure their carbon footprint and develop ways to reduce their carbon usage. Students are presented with a series of questions about daily activities such as travel, electricity use, and meals consumed, and the calculator gives students tips about different options for setting goals for themselves (for example, “I will ride a bike instead of riding in a car”). A teacher’s guide to using the calculator is also available .
